Alex Chapman

Alex Chapman is a Partner in the Computer Games and Digital Media Groups. 

His practice focuses primarily on the interactive entertainment, digital and creative industries and he has an especially strong reputation in computer games and digital media, with first hand knowledge of the sectors as part of the development teams on a number of successful projects before taking up the law. He now acts for some ofEurope's top games businesses. 

Alex also advises businesses and individuals in the creative industries generally with a particular focus on exploitation of rights. 

The Legal 500 describes Alex as "a star", "worth every penny" and "a leading authority on IP law pertaining to computer games". Chambers and Partners comments that he is "an expert in the computer games sector" rated for "fighting his clients' corners well". 

Recent work includes: 

• Advising the developers of some of the world’s most successful games
• Advising numerous independent developers in connection with the establishment of new studios, as well as the self-publishing of their own products on all major platforms or negotiating agreements with major games publishers
• Advising the shareholders of theUK's most influential games developers on the sale of their companies 

As software and entertainment media increasingly comes together Alex regularly advises, writes and presents on transmedia and convergence matters.

He has spoken at Games Developers Conference, DocFest and South By Southwest (in his capacity as co-head of the firm's Transmedia Group) and has written for Copyright World, GamesIndustry.biz and various other publications.
