Peter McInerney

Peter is head of the firm's Film, TV and Broadcasting practices.

He gives legal, commercial and regulatory advice to clients involved in the creation and exploitation of content via television, online, mobile, on stage and in cinemas. His longstanding involvement in media and entertainment includes periods in-house in broadcasting and the theatre. He uses his extensive and varied deal-making experience to navigate clients through the opportunities and challenges of the digital era.

The Legal 500  describes him as "first class".

Chambers & Partners  state that he "has an authoritative knowledge of financing and co-productions; he knows what broadcasters want", is "well connected" and "an excellent sounding board for strategic advice".

Peter has particular expertise in structuring international television co-productions and the licensing of formats and sports rights. He advises clients on effective rights management and the clearance and exploitation of archives. He is currently involved in the development of broadband channels for rights owners, arts organisations and independent producers.

His eclectic mix of clients includes NBC Universal, Channel 4, Carnival Film & Television (producers of "Downton Abbey") , HBO, the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Geographic, Mattel, WGBH in Boston, the GAA (Hurling and Gaelic Football) and "His Dark Materials" author Philip Pullman.
