Sheridans Secures Apology for Best Selling Author
Reputation Management expert, Nick King has represented American journalist and best selling author, Philip Carlo, in securing the following apology from FHM magazine.
"In the July issue of FHM, we ran a feature entitled "FHM Meets The World's Worst Serial Killer", with words credited to noted serial killer expert, Philip Carlo. While this feature was presented in the third person, we wish to make it clear that it was Mr Carlo alone who gained access to the subject Richard Ramirez (pictured, right) and it was only thanks to Mr Carlo's brave and outstanding journalism that FHM was able to publish this piece. For a much fuller account of the encounter with Richard Ramirez, FHM highly recommends Philip Carlo's best-selling book, The Night Stalker, published by Mainstream Publishing, priced £9.99.
The July feature was followed in the August issue by a single page column entitled "Dead Man Porking" which related events that purported to take place at the death row wedding of Richard Ramirez.
Although this column was presented in the first person under Philip Carlo’s by-line, we acknowledge that the published article differed from Mr Carlo’s submitted copy in several significant respects. In particular, we wish to stress that at all times Mr Carlo remained fearless when confronted with these notorious killers and that any allusion to the contrary was baseless fabrication on our part.
We apologise unreservedly to Mr Carlo for any offence caused. For many more examples of Mr Carlo's intrepid reporting, we also recommend his excellent new book The Killer Within - In The Company of Monsters, available now from Mainstream Publishing, priced £9.99."
FHM also agreed to pay Mr Carlo's legal costs.
Philip Carlo is a journalist and best selling biographer of Thomas Pitera, Richard Kuklinski, Anthony Casso, and Richard Ramirez. Further information about Mr Carlo's work can be found at www.philipcarlo.com
